📦 What Is YouFibre?

YouFibre is a UK-based broadband provider offering full fibre (FTTP) connections directly to your home.

Unlike older fibre setups, this means:

  • Equal upload & download speeds
  • Better reliability
  • Less slowdown during peak times

It’s aimed at people who want proper fast internet without the usual issues.

If you can get YouFibre in your area, it’s easily one of the best broadband providers in the UK right now. But like anything, it’s not perfect — so here’s my real experience from sign-up to everyday use.

YouFibre Review

Having been with YouFibre for around a year now, I thought it was finally time to sit down and write a proper review about my experience with them — the good, the bad, and the slightly annoying bits in between.

Like many people these days, my internet connection is pretty important. I run a home server, send large files for work, and generally have quite a few devices connected around the house. So upload speeds, reliability, and overall value were the things I cared about most.

So how has YouFibre actually been after a full year?

Well… here goes.

Chapter 1

The Sale!

It was a cold winter’s afternoon when there was a knock at my door.

I opened it to find a YouFibre sales agent standing there.

Great… just what I wanted.

Not.

To be honest, I’m not a fan of door-to-door sales people at all. But at the time I had been looking into setting up a home server, and my current broadband provider had a painfully slow upload speed. So I decided to hear them out.

We went back and forth with questions for a while. One of the main things that caught my attention was that their packages had symmetrical speeds — meaning the upload speed is the same as the download speed.

The plan I was looking at offered:

150Mbps download AND 150Mbps upload.

For a home server setup, that’s actually a huge improvement over many traditional broadband providers where upload speeds are tiny compared to download.

Now 150Mbps was already plenty fast enough for what I needed… but there was still one problem.

You see, I’m what I call a value customer.

I don’t need the newest tech.
I don’t need the fastest package.
I don’t need the latest flashy marketing nonsense.

What I need is value.

And good value at that.

This is where the sales agent actually saved the deal.

They offered to price match my current broadband price.

Now we’re only talking about around £3 per month difference, but that was enough for me to see the value.

On top of that I was getting:

  • Much faster upload speeds
  • A brand new router
  • No mid-contract price rises
  • Full fibre instead of the hybrid connection I had before

At that point I thought:

“Alright… this actually makes sense.”

So I signed up there and then.

Chapter 2

The Install

One thing I will give YouFibre credit for straight away — they do not mess around with installation times.

If I remember correctly, it was around 7 days from order to install.

Compared to the two week minimum wait I’ve experienced with other broadband providers before, that was a pleasant surprise.

Installation day arrived and overall the engineers were great.

They:

  • Installed the fibre line
  • Mounted the equipment
  • Plugged everything in
  • Got the router up and running

They even listened when I asked if they could reuse an existing hole in the wall for the cable instead of drilling a new one, which saved a bit of mess.

So overall the install itself was quick and smooth.

However…

There was one issue.

And for me it was a big one.

The router.

They installed an Eero 6 router, and when I looked at the back of it I noticed something slightly annoying.

It only had ONE spare ethernet port.

Just one.

Most routers from other providers normally have four ethernet ports, so you can plug multiple devices in.

For a normal household that might not matter much, but for me it was a bit of a pain.

My setup includes:

  • 2 PCs upstairs
  • A home theatre system
  • A powerline adapter for another room

So I contacted their customer service team and explained the situation.

After a fair bit of back and forth messaging they eventually agreed to credit my account with £20, which I used to buy a network switch.

That allowed me to expand the number of ethernet ports and get everything connected properly again.

Since then I’ve actually expanded my network even further and now have ethernet connections running to:

  • My TV
  • My home server
  • A Steam Link device
  • Multiple PCs

So while the router situation was a bit annoying at first, it was easily solved with a cheap network switch.

And to be fair, YouFibre now use routers with more ethernet ports anyway, so new customers probably won’t even run into this issue.

Chapter 3

Speeds & Real World Use

The package I went for was the 150Mbps download and 150Mbps upload plan.

And guess what?

That’s exactly what you get.

Now as I mentioned earlier, I’m a value customer — which also means I expect to actually receive the speeds I’m paying for.

And does YouFibre deliver?

Yes, they absolutely do.

When I’m sending large files for work they fly out compared to my old connection. Uploading used to take forever, but now it’s quick and painless.

That symmetrical upload speed is honestly one of the biggest advantages of full fibre connections like this.

“Once you’ve experienced symmetrical upload speeds, it’s very hard to go back.”

Speed consistency has also been impressive.

“The speeds stay very close to the advertised 150Mbps up and down.”

Whether it’s:

  • Morning
  • Afternoon
  • Evening
  • Late night

The speeds stay very close to the advertised 150Mbps up and down.

No evening slowdowns.
No weird drops in speed.

And if you want even more speed, YouFibre actually offer packages all the way up to gigabit and multi-gigabit speeds depending on the area.

For my needs though, the 150Mbps package has been more than enough.

Chapter 4

Reliability & Support

In the year that I’ve had YouFibre, the connection has been very solid overall.

There were a few outages early on when they first launched in the area, but to be fair they kept customers informed via email updates while they worked on upgrades.

At the time they were still expanding the network infrastructure built by Netomnia, which provides the full-fibre network that YouFibre runs on.

Once those early upgrades were completed, the connection has been stable ever since.

I honestly can’t remember the last time it went down.

And that’s exactly what you want from broadband — something you don’t even have to think about because it just works.

Customer service has also been decent whenever I’ve needed them. The router issue during install was handled reasonably well, and they responded fairly quickly through messaging.

Chapter 5

The Verdict (1 Year Later)

So the big question:

Would I recommend YouFibre?

Yes.

And in fact I already have.

My brother signed up using my referral link and we both received £75 each, which was a nice little bonus.

Then I mentioned it to my neighbour, they signed up as well, and we both received £25 each.

So that’s another nice perk — their referral scheme actually pays out.

And if you decide to sign up through my referral link as well, we both get a little bit of cashback.

Which is always nice.

YouFibre itself is still a fairly new company, having launched in 2019, and it’s growing rapidly across the UK with full fibre connections reaching millions of homes.

They focus on things like:

  • No mid-contract price rises
  • Price matching
  • Early contract buyouts
  • Symmetrical fibre speeds

And those are all things that make them stand out compared to some of the bigger broadband providers.

So after a full year of using the service, I’m happy to say:

“YouFibre delivers exactly what it promises — fast, stable broadband at a good price.”
